Minim Cove Development

Minim Cove Development involved the decontamination and subdivision of an old CSIRO contaminated site in Minim Cove located adjacent to the Swan River. Project involved: filling of an excavation of a limestone cell with a contaminated material, excavation and removal of various classes of contaminated material to Red Hill and Thomas Road landfills, clay capping, shaping and landscaping of the containment cell, testing for contamination of the site until the whole site was classed as clean.

Kirsty was the Superintendent's Representative for the project responsible for managing two separate contracts carried out concurrently by two independent contractors with their own sub-contractors. As a result she was responsible for managing up to 40 people via the Contractor's Supervisors and two of her own Clerk of Works. Every day up to one hundred trucks entered and exited the site transporting hazardous waste to the various landfills. During this process close liaison was maintained with government authorities, the Principal (LandCorp) and Contractors.

Key Program Achievements:

• Project received an Institute of Engineers award.
   
• Daily ongoing management of contaminated material undertaken in close collaboration with WA EPA.
   
• Project site was certified as "clean" by the WA EPA.
   
• Project involved the management of up to 100 trucks on site every day transporting contaminated material to land fill with zero incidents on site.
